    Default Bande op 4x4 Sleepwa

Ek het ‘n VTech 4x4 sleepwa. Ek het al twee bande gebars en een band het ‘n sidewall seperation gehad.

Die volgende bande is tans op:-

    1. Dunlop SP Enduro R15 C steel belt radial 22 polyester, 2 staal en 2 nylon
    2. Firestone Destination A/T 215/80 R15C 4x4 2 polyester, 2 staal en 1 nylon. 1090 kg gewigsbeperking.
    3. Dunlop 4x4 Trakgrip Steelbelt Radial A/T. 215R15C 2 polyester, 2 staal en 1 nylon 1030 kg gewigsbeperking.

Watter een van die bande is die regte band of indien nie een nie wat moet ek opsit.

How? What are you doing to these tyres? I mean that in that best possible way. I think the choice of which new tyres to fit is less of a factor as to why the old ones failed.

The first one popped on a vey hot day just outside Groblershoop on our way to Kgalagadi from Port Alfred. The tread seperation I noticed in the Park and the other after a trip from Pta to Mountain Zebra, 10 km before the park. Both burst tyres was after virtual non stop driving. I pump the tyre 2.5 bar

Drop the pressure to 2bar as on your vehicle or even 1.8bar. Might help.

I normally ride with these pressures on my bakkie, but not when I have loaded the bakkie.

I googled VTech trailers and can find no info on the 4x4 trailer. Maybe discontinued....I was looking for info on the Tare and GVM of the trailer.

Burst tyres are most times from sidewalls getting warm..

The most common tyre blowout cause is under-inflation. An under-inflated tyre will bulge out under your car's weight, causing it to bounce up and down when driven at speed. This then causes a high level of friction, resulting in heat that will weaken the tyre and eventually leads to it bursting
I load a ton on my bakkie and pull ton trailer fully laden as well....running 195R14's both.
Spec on bakkie is rear 2.1bar empty and 3.6bar laden. Trailer came with sticker on mudguard....3.8bar laden

I have stuck to these for yonkers and did long distances, at highway speeds. Nary an issue.

As the there is a dearth of info on the trailer itself, any advise is moot.

Does your trailer tow nose higher than the back.

Is it heavy at the rear.

DOES IT SWAY often, even a little.

Is it very heavy when fully loaded.

It tows with the nose very slightly down, I pack it balanced and weigh the noseball mass. Does not sway, I had shocks attached as a special request. I have never weighed it fully laden.

Dont know if it could be the case here - but tyres do have a rack life. Trailers may be standing in a garden corner for most of the time and only occasionally be called upon for duty. Thread may seem sufficient because of little use - but sidewalls may slowly perish and eventually give way on the odd journey.

That looks like a fairly solid trailer. If you load it to legal max weight, there would be 900 kg load per on each tyre. Compare that to your bakkie, which probably weighs less than 2500 kg, which would be around 625 kg per tyre.

Higher load on the tyres brings them closer to their max load rating and therefore works them harder than those on the towing vehicle.

I towed my Echo for 7 years with no puncture till I had to replace them due to age.

They've been through the Richtersveld, Kaokoland Botswana and as far as Malawi - not one singe puncture or side wall cut!

    I stand by my post...
    My trailer's GWM is 1400kg

My take is 2.5bar is too low
