    Default Migration to Australia

There has been a previous discussion on this subject recently.
Now is the time to apply as there has been 75 billion dollars worth of projects approved for development in Western Australia in the last two weeks.

Engineers, tradesmen will be hot items.

The downside is that some of the mine's operations will be automated reducing the need for staff.

Have been contemplating doing a small write-up of how to go about moving to the land down under....

There are many people who would like to go, but have no clue as to where to start.

Wondering if there would be a need for such a thread perhaps...?

Jan from my understanding you are originally from SA so you would be the best person to do this and it would be invaluable for those wanting to come over.

Some of the companies would be Lycopodium, Calibre, Fluor, Ausenco, Minnovoo who are now been taken over by an SA company, GDE Engineering have a bucket load of work plus many more.

    Nephew left for Oz yesterday.

    Son packing for Toronto.

Seems to be the thing nowadays, can't blame them. Worth moving just for security and electricity alone.

There is a parental visa option. Very difficult because at least half your number of children need to be in Oz for minimum of 3 years. That is still no guarantee and the parental visa backlog is 49 months. My daughter and her family are applying and are wanting us to move but my other 2 children don't want to go.

She is on the skills list so should be no problem for her. We will miss them but in 14 years her children will be needing to go to university or into the employment market and my wife and I agree that is where it will be best for them.

There is also the option of a 457 visa.
Australia has been coming down hard on this recently but given the skill shortages that will occur it may be one avenue to get into OZ.

You will need to scout arounf=d for a sponsor but if all else fails then it is another option.

South Africans are a good fit for Australia, better than the poms.

Also, there is an Australian government website, just type in Migrating to Australia from South Africa.

Unfortunately, it has come to this for me too. I always said that I wouldn't but a recent act of violence that cost me a family member has convinced me that this country is not the place to raise my daughter and it breaks my heart.
One conference call later to get my ducks in a row and I am signed up for further studies to make it easier. Realistically, I am looking at applying/moving in 2020.

So I have said we wont go the zim /africa route. Hell was I wrong. I did not think it was possible to steal that much.

So with time we will land up with nothing soon. Savings and pensions will be eroded with inflation.

So Im too old and cranky to leave. Unfortunately my kids have to go if they can. We have problems. Huge problems
