Default Suggestions for a 5 day Botswana trip in July

    Hi all,

I want to do a 5-day Botswana trip in July, what would your preferred locations/stopovers and campsites be if you have 5 days to travel in Botswana?

    Thanks

5 days/4 nights from home or 5 days/6 nights in Botswana?
5 days from home I would not do much more than going to Khutse (1 day there, 1 day back) for the full period or perhaps Mabuasehube (1.5 days there, 1.5 days back).
5 days in Botswana (excluding say a day there and a day back) I would venture up to Khumaga via overnight at Khama Rhino, and perhaps throw in a day at Khubu Island and/or Nxai Pan and/or Tuli Block area.

What do you enjoy? Have you ever been anywhere in Bots?

    If not, my suggestions:

Option 1 - One night highlights

Day 1: Gauteng to Khama Rhino
Day 2: Khama to Kubu island
Day 3: Kubu to Elephant Sands
Day 4: Elephant Sands to Senyati (afternoon river cruise)
Day 5: EARLY start all the way home (long drive)

Option 2 - One night highlights (other route)

Day 1: Gauteng to Khama Rhino
Day 2: Khama to Kubu island
Day 3: Kubu to Maun (scenic afternoon flight)
Day 4: Morning delta cruise then overnight at Nata Lodge
    Day 5: Back home

Option 3 - Mabua / Khutse (as already been mentioned)

Also, perhaps ask Dirk to move this thread to the Botswana section, you'll get more information there.

I have been to Bots Before but it was a bit of a disaster as we were towing and the others not..... others left us behind while we had to sukkel voort ourselves.

Where did your previous trip to Botswana take you? Maybe try and touch on a new area this time.

Also what is your aim? Cover as much as possible or just chill.

You basically have 4 nights. Khutse is a good suggestion, but game can be scarce.

Thuli block perhaps. Enter at Martinsdrift and meander along, exit at Zanzibar or Platjan. I am just not too familiar with camps in the Thuli block. I know African Ranches, Stephensford and Molema. What I like about the Thuli block is that it is just across the border, but feels like a different world.
