Not always good news for all.!!
The Balozi living in Sesheke Western Zambia buy groceries in Katima Namibia due to the unavailability in Zambia.
Earnings ( for the few that have a job ) of say ZK 400 000 is worth
    R 1333 in Namibia.
Should the Kwacha further deteriorate to 600 such individual would have a disposable income of R 666 in Namibia.
From October last year the "Balozi" has been in a "starvation period" which will last until the crops are harevested in March.
My good friend Mfuwefarmer would be able to elaborate on the job losses and closure of copper mines... Not good news nor happy days for some!
    Kind regards,

    Default Fuel shortage

Looks like there might be an issue with fuel supplies.
Press reports state that the GRZ did not have enough money to pay for crude deliveries and the delivery was routed to the East.

Diesel stock available for about 9 days. So remote areas will be left dry.

If you are coming into Zambia, please make sure you come in full.

    Default Fuel shortages

The Minister of Energy was quoted in the local papers having said that he will resign his post if there are shortages! Let's wait and see...

So in effect, the diesel price has come down some. We were paying ZA price plus about 80%. Now it is ZA price plus about 15%

There is a huge under recovery at the moment which is being funded by the GRZ.
For how long they can keep it up is an unknown.
The $ price /l has increased by 8c to $1.15

On the DRC side we are currently landing diesel with all duties paid at about $0.72, which is much less than SA price even though most is sourced from SA.

    Default Fuel shortage looming

The Ndeni refinery will have to be shutdown for urgent delayed maintenance (changing of catalysts in the rainy season)

Imported fuel is stuck at Dar, possibly due to financial guarantees not being in place......

Remote areas will obviously be hardest hit so plan your trips carefully!
