Default Pirelli Atr vs Michelin ltx Force

    Morning All

I want to put new tyres on my Prado 120, i am currently running Pirelli scorpion atr 265/65 tr17 and it is not a bad tyre but i have picked up two flats with them one nail and one screw so not realy a tyre fault. It is a family weekend vehicle so it runs about 11000km per year and it is 80% on and 20% off. I am not concerned with high milage tyres but i do not want to compromise on safety wet and dry. Road noise must be very soft. Had BF's on my bakkies looks good but shite on the wet so if there are others to considder please advise just no BF's please.

    HI Vossie,

I recently picked up the General Grabber AT tyre at a great price and fitted them to my Prado. Very quiet on road and the dirt roads I have driven it is noticeable better than the Duellers that was fitted. Have done some rain driving and the vehicle behaves really well.

I cannot comment on the LTX Force but I would thinking that will be a great tyre also as I had LTX on the fortuner and that was a great tyre.

Two very good choices you got there. Another option I would consider is the Firestone Destination AT, it comes in your size with appropriate load index & speed rating. Considering your annual mileage you should get around 6 years of use out of a set.
I had them on a Jeep & bakkie and und used them a lot on gravel roads. Silent on tar, very good grip on wet & dry tar as well as on gravel.

    I'd stay with the Pirelli's!

Used it on my ex Pajero and got very good service. Currently have Geolandar go15 on the current Pajero but cannot comment as they only did 10 000kms. I am happy with them.

Apparently the Michilins give better mileage, but you do not travel a lot so your tyres will expire before the tread is finished.

Sounds like a great price for Michelin tyres.
