Default Easy/Mild/Difficult Trail in Gauteng or close to...

I am planning a 4x4 day for our Church early next year. This will be a bit a fundraiser.

This year we did Hennops trail. I am looking for similar trail.

We had 1 4x2 Amarok Auto that was able to most of the trail and could also use some bypasses.

I am looking for something similar, a trail that has something in it for anyone.

At this stage I can think of De Wildt, but would there be other trails as well?

Like to get everyone interested - need some tricky sections as well for the more experienced guys.

Was thinking of putting on the forum as well next year to get some more people.

    Open for suggestions.

    Thanks,

Bass Lake out Walkerville side has quite a nice trail, and nice area / restaurant to kuier a bit afterwards.

Any other trails that can be recommended?

Perhaps Kungwini, but they don't allow 4x2s. So people will have to be passengers in 4x4 vehicles.

What are Groenkloof like these days?

    Really?

Had a look at Bass Lake, just seems a bit expensive, especially since we ask for a donation on top of the trail fee...

    Thought so...

Does seem if they have a lot of tracks, so can potentially include a bit of everything for 4x4 vehicles only...

I'd stick with De Wildt. Plenty of escape routes.

Bogaards, just keep in mind that Basslake don't allow 4X2s, and that there are quite a number of difficult obstacles. Most of them, if not all, can be avoided, if I remember correctly.

If you do decide to go there, let me know, might have one or two people I can invite along.

Thanks, I have seen the comment on the website. They are also a bit pricey seeing that we add something on top of the entry fee as a donation.

Seems as if most allow 4x2's anyway, so might just as well stick to 4x4 only.

Need something else then De Wildt, have been there plenty of times, so need something new...

Just take a 10km drive out of Jhb in any direction. Nowadays the roads are so bad, it's an obstacle course on it's own......

At Spookspruit the 4x2 can drive to the picnic spot and start the braai.

Throwing an alternative option out here from the 4x4 trails...

Have a look at Breedtsnek Pass. It's a run-down public road so its free

There is a nice open area at the top with some beautiful views that's great for a braai/picnic spot.
From there you can either turn back and go down the way you came up or continue on to finish the pass.

It is a fun drive, but might be too boring for the experienced guys.
All in all it's quite a nice day outing
