    Default Does a Fortuner (2009-2012) 80 litre fuel tank fit a 2007 V6 (65 litre)?

    Will a 2009 - 2012 Fortuner 80 liter fuel tank fit in / at the same mounting points of a 2007 Fortuner V6 with a 65 litre petrol tank? If so will it make any difference if the 80 litre tank comes from a diesel Fortuner?

    I don't know where the fuel tank is situated on the Fortuner. But I believe that at some stage the Fortuner got the rear axle & suspension from the Prado?
    Not sure, but maybe something to look at, as it might affect the space and mounting points available.

    They look very similar, however I wouldn't know if they can be directly swapped out

    I fitted a 50l long range tank on my 2007 fortuner at GERBERS 4x4
    It was the best thing I ever did.

    Sorry to bump this old thread.

    Has anyone one done this swop out?

    I have a 2006-2008 version with the 60 litre and can get a tamp from a 2011.
    Fortuner 3.0D4d 4x4
    EFS Suspension, Oversize BF AT's, Dual Battery System.
    I don't want to sound like a badass but.... I eject my USB without removing it safely!

    We have done it to a 2006 Fortuner , Just get the Tank Brackets and make sure the pump float is in the 80l tank , then is is a simple swop.

    Please report back once you have done the Swap, I would love to do the same

    The 65 liter tank is really not nice on this mod Fortuner and to fill and see you have got 761 km range is not satisfying especially in Moz where you can not fill at any garage available or sometimes no Diesel.

    OK maybe I misunderstand but 761 km range with a V6 and 65l tank. I'd be super happy.

    What am I missing? Do you have another tank?

    This surprising consumption is driving in Mozambique @ 40/60-max 80 kmph for the past year...
    Even on consumption shows 11.7 to as much as 12.1 kml
    When I was last able to visit South Africa (Feb) sometimes showed range 690-714 (9 to 10 ave) @ ave 110 kmph

    BUT you made me think now...!!!

    No, no other tank but could never fill more than 60 liters with gauge on or close to empty and range shown 55 to 60 km before filling
    I have never seen a reserve light showing and thought it to be ooo.

    More confusing is the fact that this is, according to NATIS a 2011 mod and should have an 80 liter tank and was bought as a 2011

    Most confusing is that my vehicle's VIN 10th digit is a O or 0 where it is stated that

    For the 10th digit, these are the model years corresponding to the year of production:

    • A – 1980 OR 2010
    • B – 1981 OR 2011
    • C – 1982 OR 2012
    • D – 1983 OR 2013
    • E – 1984 OR 2014
    • F – 1985 OR 2015
    • G – 1986
    • H – 1987
    • I – Doesn’t exist. You’re looking at the number one.
    • J – 1988
    • K – 1989
    • L – 1990
    • M – 1991
    • N – 1992
    • O – Doesn’t exist. Neither zero or the letter “O” are used as the 10th digit


    Here is my VIN (17 Digit) (Maybe not wise to post it here but need clarification)
    A H T Y 2 5 9 G 8 0 8 0 1 6 2 3 2

    1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8-9-10-11-12-13-14-15-16- 17

    Meaning that my 10th digit should not exist but traveled Swaziland and Mozambique and was thoroughly inspected at border crossings

    But can be found here https://www.vindecoderz.com/EN/check-lookup/
    and confirm it to be a 2011 mod and recognize the VIN no.

    Is it possible that the readings only read 65 liters although the capacity is 80 liters
    Is the gauge and the range somehow connected.. to give me a corresponding range
    Could it be that a 2006 models float was installed ... and will it read only 65 liters

    Maybe best answer is in self test...Pull the plug and drain the tank completely...
