Going to do the Namakwa Eco Trail in 2 weeks, anyone know if there is water in the Orange River at the moment?

    Yes.

    1. There are people who know.
    2. Yes there is water in the Orange (Gariep River)

Jokes aside, if you would like info. on the trail read my trip report in the Overlanding section - we were there in late Aug / early Sep.
There are also at least two other reports on that route by others.

    Hope this helps.
Answering the call of the wild is just so much beter than answering the telephone.

Thanks Peter. I've just read your part 1.
During the past few months I've watched quite a few YouTube videos about camping in Northern Cape as well as the Namakwa Eco Trail.
I enjoy the travel by myself, prefer wild camping and the quiet without having to camp in large crowds.
Looking forward to the trip, glad there's water in the Orange River.
    Thanks again for your reply.

I live on Klein pella, we have done quite a bit of fishing the past month. The River level is lower than normal, but still a lot of water flowing. DWAF site shows the current flow at 18 cubic m / s , normal is 20 - 30 .

I used to go to on the date farm and fish along the trail - some amazing water upstream of the farm too.
