Default Tentco Bundu Canopy- please post your pics/ setup/ tips

When I started looking at the Tentco Bundu Canopy there wasn't much available on the internet with pics of setups to look at. My mind was made up after asking here and getting favourable feedback.

So, as a central point for pics and tips and whatever regarding the canopy please post here

I'll start..we now use the canopy for day trips to the beach, less schlep than the big gazebo. Here I used plastic packets filled with sand as anchors but they are too flimsy when the wind blows. I have since bought some cloth shopping bags which works much better.

I use shadecloth for sides, learnt long ago that wind doesn't like solid panels.

A small battery powered lantern fitted with a cable tie as light works well under the canopy.

What I like is that I can pitch it on any two sides of the car so one can adapt to a situation. I keep the alu strip in the bag and use it when fitting to the back, fastened with g-clamps which I learnt here. When used on the side I use the main eyelet with a thick cable tie on one of the roofrack eyebolts as I have a spade bracket fitted already.

Setup with and without sides. The sides wrap around the back pole and goes right up to the side of the vehicle. Click image for larger version.

The sides hangs on a pole that is fitted on top of the 2 corner pole. A mod that I still want to do is to fit another eye lid halfway between the the 2 side poles, on the roof that is. With that I will connect another rope to pull the roof tighter over the cross pole. That will prevent the damming of water on the roof.

    Hi Riaan

I also wanted to have the option of using it on 3 sides of the vehicle, so I bought a length of the aluminium extrusion and mounted the correct length on each side of the roofrack.

    No G-clamps required...

When my RTT is not installed, I also use an aluminium extrusion. However, mine is not fitted permanently. I use biggish eyelid bolts to fasten the extrusion to the feet used for fitting the RTT.

I can't do that..Hilift jack on the one side and a spade bracket on the other side mounted on the rack. The g clamps work well for the back as I can have the alu strip overhang the rack, meaning the one side of the canopy is level with the SUV's door.

On the sides I have to use one of the eyebolts on the rack and the back eyelet of the canopy with a cable tie.

Like the previous poster, I also couldn't wait to put up the canopy. Same day it arrived we just had to pitch it after work, even if in the open field next door

Trip to the harbour today, using the cloth bags now as one can load more sand in them.

I tie the one side to the rim, with the door open in our car it forms a sort of barrier/ privacy screen. And bit of shelter from the ever present wind by the coast.

We had n braai day at my daughters crèches year end concert/ santawith presents day and this was our first real use of our new Bundu Canopy and it was a little windy but easy to put up and down and wow really worked well. Thanks for tip to put the rope around the pole in windy conditions it worked a charm. My only regret is that we didn't get one sooner Click image for larger version.

I built a rack for mine to either pitch on the car or loosen two fasteners and pitch standalone. Few seconds to remove from the rack.
I find it very practical and intend using it a lot more.
