If I had a proper garden with space I'd pitch it on the SUV and also just sit and relax, often I think.

To be relatively close to the house I have to go to the parkie next door to do so, but that would just be weird

Living where we do, it rains often and one of the only worrying things with the canopy is it's tendency to pool water. It pools so much that the weight collapses the poles which is not fun.

Creating run off areas helps, I drop two of the sides by leaving out the poles which sorts the issue out. When fastened to the back I will drop the front ones.

This made me realise I need another Bundu Canopy, as I got wet accessing the back of the car.

    That is good solution.
I always keep an eye on pooling.
I have had enough ice cold water over my head!

... am I right in thinking this canopy
    is simply an awning
held up & taut by up to 6 upright telescoped poles
    and attached guyropes
with no horizontal or inclined cross-struts up-top under the canvas ?

... so as such differs to gazebos ?

Yes but sidewalls are available and then metal expandable poles provide support for the sidewalls across the top.

They are quick to erect, light weight and pack smaller than gazebo's. I have both.
Bundu essentially designed to provide shade not rain cover.

We use our gazebo for longer stays, to cook in when it rains and for overall rain/wind protection.

I still want to add eyelids between the 2 side poles. Then I can use the cross poles, for the side awning, and tighten the top over the cross poles with a rope. This together with putting up the side poles, closer to the vehicle, at a angle to create a bigger slope should do the trick in stopping/minimising pooling of water.

Thanks Paul ... so I have a senior gazebo and now plan is to have 8 eyelets (3 per side = 6 plus 2 end ones for the 2 taller poles )put in to use those spiked support poles ...
so will be much quicker to put up
and take down than for the original gazebo frame pole system ...

So if you can now add an eyelet to pull the top over the cross pole for the side you should get rid of the sag in the roof and stop the water from running down the inside of the side wall.

My plan was to take a Sidewall pole which already has two eye ends.

The centre tent pole(s) has a protrusion same as the poles for the sidewall. Since the sidewall poles are telescopic, one can put an eye end on one centre pole and the other end on the opposing centre pole and "stretch" the sag in the centre....

I have not tried it because I am not looking forward to fiddle with this. To be honest, I am actually considering selling the Bundu Canopy for an awning. Just trying to explain my idea makes me tired....
There is also the tennis ball on a tent pole trick, but that takes up real-estate....

Yes, I also thought about a pole in the centre. But then you will need a short pole on the vehicle side, like on caravan tents. As you say, then it starts to take away some of the easy setting up.
