Definitely very interested in the wild life and getting to national parks on the way to and back from Malawi.
Liwonde NP is on the list as well.

I'd like to try have about a week around the lake relaxing hard and hopefully getting some dives in.
Been a dream of mine to dive the lake and hopefully make my way up a bit further north to Nkhata.

What do you guys think the best way is to get to Malawi?
My GF is not the biggest fan of long drives so I'd like to break it up as much as possible and get some good stops in on the way for a night or 2 at a time and hopefully not drive more than 8 hours a day.

When diving, be aware of bilharzia. A while ago we did some kayaking and diving in the lake. Sixteen out of our group of twenty, got bilharzia.

Basically, stay out the water in populated areas. At Cape McLear they test the water.

Don’t waste your time at Monkey Bay, Cape Maclear much nicer. Head to Chembe Eagles Nest.

Yes, but don't swim at Chembe, ESPECIALLY not there. You will see why when you get there. And keep your mouth shut when you shower . See previous post.

Maybe we were lucky but 6 of us swam all day for a week at Chembe and off the islands and none of us got bilharzia (my son did come down with a strange affliction about 8 weeks after our return, but blood tests for bilharzia came back negative).

We also took a prophylaxis for bilharzia about two months after our return (I forget the name). It’s really not something to stress about provided you take the necessary precautions.
