    Default Exomotive Excocet Off Road

Has anyone considered importing the kit and building an Exocet Off Road? Or maybe something similar?

    http://exomotive.com/exocet/off-road/

I'm specifically wondering what hurdles one can expect when registering the vehicle. It will have a chassis and engine number but would things like no windscreen or doors not be an issue? Does anyone have a copy of SANS 10047?

The build looks easy enough so why aren't there more of these types of cars on the road? What am I missing?

you need a MX5 and the kit.
for that money you can buy a proper 4x4.
even a side x side is a million times better.
that is only a cool idea in the UK because a MX5 has no value there.

I'm not looking for a 4x4. My Navara is more than adequate for my needs in that department.

How so? I don't really know then other from seeing them in the Dakar rally. They look very custom built and probably very difficult/ impossible to get registered as road legal.

You asked why nobody buys the kit.
    I answered that for you.

If you want to buy one, go for it.

The Exocet is not a 4x4 so I don't know where that reference comes from. I don't know side by sides and you didn't explain how they were millions time better.

So no, actually you didn't answer the question.

It's purely an offroad toy. It has nothing like lights etc that will make it road legal so you don't need to register it for use offroad.
it will most likely not have a chassis number that you can register in the sense of a manufacturers vin no.

So you'll trailer it to somewhere where you play offroad.

Thanks. The neat thing about the Exocet is it is possible to get it road legal by adding the lights and mirrors. Using a MX5 chassis and engine means the registration should not be too difficult either. Then one has a sportscar that can handle South African road conditions.

It's always very interesting to see what that guy and his crew is up to. Just one problem: my welding is terrible. I won't drive anything that I've welded myself!
