    Default Question regarding wheel size

    Hi guys,

My towing vehicle runs on 265/75/R16.
The wheels I would like for my offroad trailer only comes in 17" and up.

According to online tyre calculators 265/75/R16 vs 265/70/R17 is virtually the same diameter and width. Only side wall is different. See attached pictures.

My question now, will I be able to swop wheels vice versa in case of emergency?

Are the number of holes the same and is the spacing between the holes (PCD) the same?

What would limit you to only 17" and up on the trailer?

Generally 17" tyres is more expensive than 16".
Also, your proposed 265/70/17 is not an easy size to find.
More common size would be 265/65/17.

The rims I'm looking at are only manufactured in 17, 18 & 20".

I hear you on the odd size.... Maybe better to look at for something else in 16".

I'd rather use exactly the same rim as the towing vehicle. If the PCD is the same anyway, that is the best solution.

    Warning

The further you go North of Musina or Maputo the less chance of finding 17" tyres...
