    Up for debate

I think the basic idea we have here works though; we're getting a list of camps, generally not listed elsewhere, that aren't the traditional caravan parks / resorts / shared campgrounds. I also don't want this to become an admin nightmare either so I'm trying to keep the categories to a minimum

Was at Malonjeni Bush Camp last weekend with family and friends.

Very little shade and a lot of day visitors made use of the lapa close to our camp on Saturday. The music boom boom till they left at 6pm left a sour taste in my mouth, not again.

    Thanks for the feedback Dirk!

FYI guys, if I receive any feedback here I add it to the entry on the map as well. Had some really bad feedback about Buffalo gorge as well the other day.

I think it is important to let these places know about bad experiences as well though, hopefully they can fix it then

Thanks a mill again for the initiative Christoff.

Just as an observation, we are all different and experience things differently, meaning I might rate a place different from another person purely because, like the weekend day visitors spoiled the bush feeling for us.

It is like the very popular Kyleu camp in Dinokeng, fantastic setup, however we chose the end of the month weekend and the shibeen was playing loud music the whole Saturday evening. This was a real let down, however does not mean it is a bad place.

Perhaps if more than one bad experience is received then mark it as such? Thoughts?

If there is a shibeen that plays loud music any day of the month I would be very grateful to know about it in advance. I think a bad experience should be note so that we can make informed decisions.

It may also be helpful to convey bad experiences to the resort management in the hope it will result in remedial action. We also try to convey good experiences to the resort management so that they can be encouraged that their efforts are appreciated.

There are many nice camping venues within the Dinokeng resort, we have tried a few and have had to listen to Hammanskraal shibeen music many times, to the point where I've decided not to go there again soon. Such a shame

I'm adding it as a "caveat emptor" Doesn't mean you shouldn't try it because of one person's bad experience but at least you had fair warning if it isn't great and we can see "repeat offenders" as well.

I've had this once at Keyleu and once at Willemsrus as well. Real shame indeed and I don't think the owners will be able to do anything about it unfortunately

Couldn't agree more. I make a point of conveying both good and bad (heck, I even started doing reviews ). The other thing to do is ask about bad feedback before you book. If they weren't aware of a problem it will quickly become apparent and you can quickly gauge yourself from the conversation whether an issue's been dealt with or not.

    I agree, but,.......
That shibeen is outside the reserve, app 6km from Kyleu. Unfortunately sound travels well in the dark and even more so in the bush. Chatted with the owners of Kyleu, Devon and Sherrie, about it. It is a big concern for them and the other camp owners within the reserve. We decided to stay an extra night, Sunday, and all was quiet and tranquil.
I see it as an true African experience

Spent this past weekend there again, did a review this time; https://youtu.be/dFA3s4Ge49s

Had some music again but not too bad this time (and expected considering this was payday weekend...)
