Nylsvley Bird Sanctury in between Nylstroom & Naboomspruit (Sorry, forgotten the new names) is a RAMSAR site and has plenty of game without the predators, so one can walk about.
The camping is secluded with no electricity, 1 tap and ladies & gents 'ablutions' are cold showers & flushing eco-loos.
Probably about 20km gravel roads and not a very popular place for kids etc.

Nylsvley is definitely on our list to visit again. We were last there in 2009.

Great thread Christoff - we have already booked one the campsites on this thread for next weekend.

Let's maybe qualify "bush camps" as well; let's say campsites that are as natural, off the grid as possible and at the very least separated from each other (i.e. not the traditional shared camp ground setups).

This is what I have so far, I would greatly appreciate suggestions (or corrections if some of these aren't that great). I will edit as we go.

Please use this form to submit new campsites going forward. We can still use this thread to discuss the campsites or the map etc.

Wow that's cool just checked it out, have a lot of campsites to add but many fall in parks or farms on resorts. Only question I want to make sure of is exactly what your definition of bush camp is?

Open to suggestions but I'd say bush camps are campsites that are as natural, off the grid as possible and sites are far from each other (think CKGR). "Semi bush camps" should at least be private (i.e. separated from each other, not shared campgrounds) but can have more luxuries.

    Something like that

I think that a true bush camp is a place where you are permitted to camp without any formal facilities being in place excepting (maybe) a long drop or eco type toilet facility and (maybe) water - not necessarily potable.
As soon as you start adding ablutions, power, sites or stands etc. then you are moving away from a bush camp to a rustic camp.

Now a rustic camp is also good, OK. but it would have quite a bit more and would probably include a basic toilet, shower arrangement and water (not necessarily hot , but maybe "donkey" powered. Maybe even (at a push) solar power.

After that I think you start getting into secluded campsites with amenities ....

    Something like that.

Thanks a mill for the effort Christoff, first "unknown to me" site on the list booked for 23 - 25 Nov, Malonjeni Bush Camp.

This is a fantastic initiative. I have been to a few on the list, but many more to explore

The OP has started a very useful thread nicely asking for assistance to put together a list of bush camp sites. Yet you come here, critical as hell, obviously not having read the opening post properly and don't contribute anything!

Christoff, I would suggest the two bush camps at Kagga Kamma. Sounds a bit strange but they really are remote without any facilities and actually on a very good 4x4 track. https://www.kaggakamma.co.za/camping.php

If not overcrowded, you will be on a LONG waiting list.
    Wonderful initiative by Christoff.

Camped at Kyleu a week ago at one of the river stands. Even had cheetas in the riverbed. Amazing, even fully booked, nobody bothered us.
