    Default Fiberglass swiming pool

G day all...after a few weeks of struggling to get the pool clear. I used a shock treatment it started to get better..and then over night it turned worse. So added a flocculant to get all the muck together. It got better....so I added some chlorine and overnight the pool was brown...but not the water the fiberglass seems to have discoloured....what to do

First of all, get Ph sorted out before adding anything else!

Yes, unbalanced ph is a priority to sort out.

Thereafter get Alum powder and put in the pool in the evening and vacuum the pool the next morning on the waste setting and not the filter setting. Thereafter check ph again.

Why your water could be brown is because you could have added a flocculant to the pool and then never turned the filter off for 12 hours before vacuuming.

If pool fibreglass is stained then you can drain the pool and paint the fibreglass and then refill. When full check ph.

Maybe take a water sample to your pool shop and have it tested before just buying and chucking in more chemicals. Emptying a pool is the absolute last resort. Fibreglass pools don’t stain that easily. A good pool shop should be able to give you the right advice on how to remedy the problem once they have tested your water.

Could be that you have iron in your water. Sounds very similar to what I had. After adding a bottle of hth metal remover, problem gone in 24 hrs.Name: download.jpeg

Try Elene's Pools in Centurion, they know their stuff.

    https://www.elenespools.co.za/home

I had a TERRIBLE pool last year and it didn't matter what I tried, it just got worse.

10 minutes on the phone to Elene and Elisma and my pool was sorted in 7 days.

Something that was stressed to me when I put the new pool in (vinyl) was to get the alkalinity right first. Mostly we think of PH and acid but this has worked well for me. Test for alkalinity first, get that right end everything else seems to fall into place
