Default Cleaning between Canopy and Cab - Solution

    Hi

I found a solution to clean the 2 windows on either side ,canopy and cab. However i phone about 3 companies that does canopies and it seems they have no care attitude in even attempting to make this window. It is a business opportunity as many people are looking at options of cleaning the 2 windows and the canopy companies doesn't want to fit the cab rubber because of future rusting. There is a canopy winow that folds down or you can have it open via gaslift shocks. I will attached the pictures and a youtube video. Maybe someone here can help me get this thing off the ground. I'm sure it should be easy for alucab to do as they have gullwing doors. I'm waiting on an answer from them as the lady must liaise with the team if they can or will make it.

Most canopy window are standard item manufacture by alwin. You can google them and view their catalogue online. Based in JHB. Most fibre glass canopy manufacturers only make the body and get supplied window by Alwin.

    Hi Andre

Do you manufacture windows for canopies?

    Hi Dwayne

Thanks for the info. I have contacted them. So they will send this request to their team that makes the windows and get back to me with an answer.

I was just wondering how doable it would be to remove the existing slider, fit a piece of cut-out flat aluminium around the hole in the canopy, and then 2 hinges and a lock mechanism on the frame of the existing slider and then fit it to the aluminium frame, using some foam rubber in between?

That is basically what this fold down window is . An Aluminium frame with a window with rubber that fits in it. Unfortunately after speaking to more than 10 Canopy places . Nobody wants to do this.

Blackie, die probleem om die bestaande raam te gebruik is dat daar 'n +-5-8mm gaping reg rondom die raam en cutout in die canopy is.
Ek het my kant skuif vensters vervang met alu vastrap nou op die gullwing konsep.

Alu canopy pas nie my budget nie, so ek doen toe maar dit.

Yip, dit is juis hoekom ek dink aan 'n "template" van aluminium om daardie gaping op the vul en dan gebruik word om die skanier en slot meganisme aan vas te sit.

Even if the whole window can come out with the rubber seal to clean ,that will also be an option. So the original window with rubber fits into a templates made and have locks\holders holding it in place. Must just be water tight thats all.

    1. Why do you want to clean the windows? (Note please: not being sarcastic). Canopy is fully packed inside so rear view mirror is useless - use Side Mirrors.

    2. I took an 8mm rod and affixed a rag (rolled about ~30 mm thick and ~100mm long) with Tie Wraps. Working from the top, elbow grease, time and with water, I cleaned both windows once. (stopped the worthless effort due to I cannot see the back of the vehicle with the Rear View Mirror as stated).

I am using something similar to this, bought it at PicknPay and just added a handle.

Brilliant idea, however you will soon see your concept manufactured and sold by a thousand companies...

My Vehicle is hardly ever loaded to the top. Even using this method you don't get a streak free window, it will be clean but it will have water marks all over .

At the moment nobody wants to do it. I saw a gullwing window on the alu cab you can actully use the the same concept of that window. You just need a rubber in where the window goes and then you make an aluminium gullwing with a big window in..
