Default Chevrolet's "support" after leaving the country

I dunno hey, from where I'm sitting, it doesn't look good.

Currently have a facelift Cruze that needs a rear bumper. No ETA available at all. We had to put back the vodde rear bumper and let the client drive like that.

Did an assessment on a Spark, price for the rear bumper not available on the Audatex system - pricing not supplied and updated.

What is it going to look like 2 years or 5 years down the line?

I was this close to buying a Spark (demo model) as a delivery car for my business.

A few days later Chevrolet announced it's withdrawal from SA. The very next day the car salesman phoned me to say they were having a stock clearance sale on selected cars, and the Spark I was interested in was among those.

The price was really tempting, it was literally 35% cheaper than new, with less than 5k km on the clock. After thinking about it for a while I phoned him back and said I decided against it.

According to him, parts would still be freely available for at least another 10 years, and all warranties would be honoured. So glad I didn't buy it.

My daughter has a Spark. She better not ever need a panel beater.

Goldwagen said they'd bring stuff in: I assume only service spares?

Indeed. Goldwagen carries only limited lines of body parts.

"'legally speaking" they are supposed to supply parts for 10 years but ya, its not like our government is going to do anything about that.

Chev website says "10 years after your model has ceased production"

How long will GM ensure that parts are available to support my Chevrolet vehicle?
We will continue to ensure parts are available for Chevrolet vehicles for up to 10 years after production of your model has ceased.

Now for the first test. The panelbeater says they haven't experienced any parts issues yet. There is apparently a big warehouse which should last for another 5 years, thereafter parts will have to be on "back order with 4 week delay".
The proof will be in the pudding.

Actually not too bad. The broken "light" is just an outer clear cover over the real light and the paintwork damage could possibly be polished out.
Waiting for the official quote and then proceed. My broker is already fully in the picture.
But, inline with this thread, let's see how available are the parts, when the chips are down.
