Yes if it's real world use is 6.5k/l that's quite much. I suspect the p300 and p400 won't be much different though.

If this is a Defender replacement it should be compared with the pricing of the 70 Series Cruiser. But I am afraid the new Defender have move miles ahead of the 70 Series in which class the old Defender were.
Interesting I have read an article while back that 70% of the 200 Series owners buy them cash. Even though the VX 200 is R300k more expensive it is a proven product. If you want to compare the new Defender with a 200 Series it would not be fair as the 200 Series is 13 years old. Think we need to wait for the 300 Series.

My prediction is that with a price tag of 1mil plus we are going to see few new Defenders hard 4x4`ing. Not saying it is not capable but still a lot of money for a 4x4 that needs to do hard labour. I think many of the people that indicated that they will buy the new Defender are not going to. I also think it would be wise to wait a few years to see what the Defender performs like in real live. Vehicles only become Icons when they win over the and convince followers that it is a though cookie. Hope it will maintain the legend of the old Defender.
It is not what you buy its what you build.

I don't think there is any point in comparing the new Defender to a LC VX 200 .....they are two completely different type of vehicles.Maybe compare to the PradoThe 70 series LC different as well.

More Prado or 200 GX class but the Prado D4D engine is just outdated and the GD6 is not really a ball of fire in the Prado(when it arrives).

You have a point there. It probably should be compared with the Prado VX or VXL.

Prado D4D engine is just outdated and the GD6 is not really a ball of fire in the Prado(when it arrives).
Those KD and GD engines really should only belong in Hilux and fortuner. Indeed it's such a pity that Prado gets such an unrefined and weak motor. They should at least have given it the petrol 1UR 4.6v8 like its Lexus equivalent of the US.

All i can say is, WOW!!
Car is beautiful, it really does look amazing!!
The space inside, in front and in the back is much more than the old Defender. The boot space is a little bit smaller, i think but the way the seats fold down i don't think you are going to have a problem!! The 130 is going to be massive. The Tech inside and out is something crazy and i hope that it can build a good name for it self.

HAHa, i fugured after watching your vid.

No comparison, I will most definitely not sell my current Defender to buy on of these.... But, this is not an old Defender. It is something totally different and in another league.

As i said before, i just hope it can and does "stand the test of time"

The comparison I was talking about was the other guys comparing to the Toyota land Cruiser.

I think your sentiments are probably the same for everyone that currently own the old defenders. Us guys that own D5's for example that used to own defenders and guys that currently own D4's and use them properly, will probably be making the change.

They sure will change but probably first hang on to the old defenders till they realize they ain't using them any more for months or years ,

I really like the looks, and the practicality of the interior.

The one big concern I have is with their choice of engines. The 110 D240 in a basic specification, should IMO be the pick of the bunch for anyone who wants to use it outside our borders. But, it's a 177kw 2.0l diesel with a not-so-good reputation for reliability. So, it's pushing out a LOT of power for a small engine, and it's going to be pushing around a lot of weight, so it will be working hard.

I would have much preferred a new V6 diesel - preferably a less cranky one than what is currently fitted to Discos.
