Matte protective film can be specced at factory if you're ordering one of the metallic paints but not with white for some reason.

Indeed. But judging by the pricing on the US land rover website, I'm expecting it to be far too costly...
So I'll probably do the same as Bruce...

    Where and how its built:

    https://www.autocar.co.uk/car-news/f...x4s-production

"To achieve the required stiffness in the aluminium structure (and this Defender is claimed to comfortably be the stiffest Land Rover yet), 3600 rivets are used, plus 170 metres of glue"

"Due in the next few years is a Mercedes-AMG G63-rivalling luxury model, the 130." The price will be eye-watering.

Tuesday knight after leaving the launch the parking lot was lined with defenders. Some newer pumas, some td5's, some tdi's and some even older than that. Alot had quite a bit of kit, battle scars and personal touches.

It made me quite sad to see what the defender had evolved into. It is an amazing vehicle and Im sure it will outperform almost anything in its class but there is something missing. I for one was happy to get into my old, scratched, noisy td5 110 after seeing the new model.

I hope it sells like hotcakes and is as reliable as a hammer. The perfect replacement for a discovery 4.

I was at the reveal tonight, and I've come away with a list of things I like, and list if things I don't.

Here's the list of things I like:

    pretty

    much everything.

The list of things I don't:
It's not packaged that well. Inside space in relation to outer dimensions, is quite small actually. (Especially boot space if one considers where the spare wheel is placed.) But heck, its ample enough for my needs...

I don't think the recessed headlights and taillights are a good idea. It can't be very aerodynamic and Im sure it will harbour dirt and dust all the time...

Other than that, its fantastic and even more attractive in the flesh than in pictures

I share your exact same sentiment..

It was a bit of an anticlimax after seeing it yesterday. I just got lost in all tech and gadgets. It just does not excite me like a Defender does. Do i see one in my future...yes of course, but i will used by my wife and the kids, and as the new 'family car'. I will continue to drive my current Defender.

In summary, its much like my smart phone. Do i want one? Not really, but somehow its become a necessity in this day and age.
