So with the trend on petrol versus Diesel it maybe a better option to go for the petrol.

any comments on the 2.0 petrol motor? (Itís about R100k cheaper than the v6)

IIRC what I've read on the Disco Sport forum, that Ingenium 2L turbopetrol is very thirsty because you have to work it hard to get any kind of performance from it.

Even LR's official figures show worse consumption than the 3L petrol.

Yes but remember the v6 is a mild hybrid which I guess can make a difference to consumption

I had the Si4 in the Disco Sport

Was pretty nippy and yes, the consumption was not mindblowing but not horrendous either.

Only down point was the turbo lag but again...not much worse than the supercharger lag on the V6SC.

    Thought it's twin sequential turbo?

Even LR's official figures show worse consumption than the 3L petrol.
    Hmm.. that's serious.

Reviews of the 2.0 petrol in the RRS all appear very good.

Well that should test the new ip67 waterproof rating of the electronics nicely...

I've heard the 900mm wading depth is only limiting in the sense that it then starts to float...

Yes and nearly 4 times the price of a Mahindra but less than a second hand GT4 with 10k kms on it. Its also priced more of less where the Touareg is priced.

Its funny how these forums work. You have to be so careful what picture you post as they will be scrutinised and picked apart for all the errors. Personally I would not have even attempted that crossing. I wonder if anyone walked it before hand? Be that as it may and with all the errors its an amazing pic and good to see the defender can do it......mine will never do that though. Im not brave enough!

Generally, you only attempt those sort of crossings in someone else's car..

Nearly... but the base price of the Land Cruiser VX-R is still an eye watering R1 510 000!
So the question is, would you rather buy that?
Sure it has advantages like already proven reliability, and...

    thinking.....

    still thinking....

    Okay got 1 more.... space.
But the Defender p400 with almost all the kit will still cost less, and it punches the VX-R square in the nose when it comes to power, torque, ability to corner, acceleration, looks, (ok subjective, but close enough to fact), fuel consumption, interior, infotainment, ground clearance (230 vs 291) appch angle (32 vs 38) , dep angle ( 24 vs 40), ramp angle (22 vs 28)... and the list goes on...

It's a bit like comparing a Camry to C63/M3 really.
Except in this case, the Camry is more expensive.

    Depends on where you live..

In some African cities, whenever it rains, most motorists find themselves needing to wade through worse to get home. So yes, you would need to wade home in your own car

True. Tried and tested dependability and yes, space. But by and large despite the age, LC200 is still luxurious.

    LC200 has more torque..

Not sure on consumption but I suspect LC200 will be better as it's diesel.
