I see your carefully worded question. It suggests the ND was a D4 replacement

Well, yes, since you won't be using lockers when driving 1000km to get to your camping destination. A Puma is far more comfortable when cruising.

Off-road, it'll be down to the specific obstacles and the driver.

Well I interpreted the question to be specifically about off road capability

Sjoe!, the last 4 pages was interesting to read.
From space, to water usage to how to modify an OD to be more ergonomical like ND , and air suspension is bad etc etc.
Yes , I was the most disappointed in the rear space of the ND 110, the door entrance is too narrow, comparing that to a D3/4 it is much smaller.
Just to mention , once I had to make a trip to Dbn too collect varnish(my Hilux VVTi crankshaft moved position, was on a low bed enroute to agents)I had to take the D3, you can load 4 X 210 lt drums plus 6 x 25 lt containers in the back, I cant think of any other SUV you can do it, its packing space is massive, for those that dont know a D3/4 , is exactly the size of a double bed at the back 190 cm Lx 140 cm W
With that load, the air supension keeps it level like its not carrying a load, no sagging.

Having toured in a Defender and than into a D3 , well there is no camparison, in power, comfort , space etc etc.

Nearly forgot, rust , hell D3 D4 shows no rust I use my , extensively on the beach, it stays for hours parked on the beach after 15 yrs zero rust, OD rusted terribly in the door frames etc. So ND will be same no rust unlike tye old

Probably the first DIY oil change on a New Defender:

Great to see that they left the dipstick on these engines.

usable for 2 days out of 14

I would have chucked all my toys AND the cot for the price I paid for a vehicle not fit for use.

How JLR can even release these for sale is beyond me. The Yanks love litigation: I predict court cases very soon.

Yes, only that it's probably just one yank complaining, so far.

If LR is not careful they will need to pull that car from the American market altogether. It really is not acceptable that both TFL and PowerfulUK had their Defenders break on them within the first two days.

And those are the only two "youtubers" who I have seen have actually bought one, so from my perspective that is a 100% failure rate.

I'll stick to my td5 for now, thanks

I suspect it's because there's been much hype and hyperbole around ND, but I dont really think the issues touch many defenders.

Lyk my die 90 gaan die een wees om te kry as jy regtig wil gaan 4x4, net nie genoeg pak plek vir ovberlanding nie.

You don't think anyone is going to agree with you, do you? It's a Defender and is totally useless in anything other than a mall setting.
