Same wheelbase as the 110 but that extra overhang is great for additional space ... depending on the floor configuration 2nd and 3rd row seats will be coming out for sure.

The third row seats in the D4 folds away totally flat, so although it takes a few centimeters in the height of the load bay, it is actually very practical and out of the way, unlike say the Fortuner or LC200. I fully expect a third row in the new Defender to follow the same model as the D4. With a cargo net installed you will e able to stack the load bay on top of the 3rd row seats quite high, so I think a 130 SW with 3rd row seats will be great.

    True.
But it's such an affair getting them up and stowed especially for ladies.
I was hoping LR would motorize them from the D3 to the D4..

unlike say the Fortuner or LC200.
Funny you say that, because although the configuration is different for the 200, the times I have used it - those seats are nicely stashed away on the side and especially in the 200, there is no feeling that they are in the way, both when loading baggage and driving.

I have seen some VX-Rs in some markets where those seats are motorized in the 200, just like the lexus LX. Hoping the defender 130 top specs will provide motorized ones too. I'm not so worried about space since the spare is mounted at the tailgate.

The LC 200 rear seats I removed immediately, they are horrible and you lose massive packing space. When you fold up the middle row of seats they also infringe on packing space and keep bumping the driver's and passenger seats when braking. Toyota really need to employ LR engineers for their seat folding design.

Well... let's see how the defender pans out in that department. It might just kill the new discovery 5 completely.

My guess is that it will do that indeed. I wouldn't be surprised if more than half of D5 owners "upgraded" to it just because it was the only upgrade option in the LR stable.

Well...I’ll be one of those who will probably go for a 110/130 and sell the D5, BUT...

IT DEPENDS on what the Defender will look like inside. I know it will be slightly more “utilitarian” compared to the D5 but the D5 is just so luxurious inside! It will be a serious “downgrade” if the Defender is too basic.

The D5 is really just a Range Rover in Discovery disguise but just more spacious with more seats and I doubt it will be any less capable than the new Defender when it comes to my needs (I have a seriously pimped 2.8 Defender for the real tuff stuff).

I absolutely love my D5....best would have been to keep the D5 and get the new Defender....but that is not going to happen

Well, the d5 interior is fantastic I'm sure, it's rather its exterior that is always the sticky issue in the looks department
