Come now Jelo, now you're just being dense for the sake of arguing - you know perfectly well that I was referring to the survivability of the occupants and not of the vehicle itself.

I mean, who cares if your vehicle ends in the scrapyard if it means you and your loved ones survive (preferably with minor injuries)?

And yes, I would also refer to that massive crash between the D3 & the Audi, the impact velocity was around the 300kmh mark IIRC? Sure, it wasn't a full head-on, but everyone in the D3 survived, albeit with some injuries.

This was a 10-yr old platform, and we know the D7x platform is even stronger than that of the D3, to mention the progress in all other aspects of safety features, and we know that JLR puts safety very high up on its features.

The safety test results for the L663 are not out yet, but even the Disco Sport, Evoque, and Velar achieved a 5-star NCAP rating, with occupancy ratings of 93%-94%: https://www.euroncap.com/en/results/...ery-sport/7873, https://www.euroncap.com/en/results/...er-velar/28393, https://www.euroncap.com/en/results/...r-evoque/35028,

OTOH, a mere 50% for the Wrangler: https://www.euroncap.com/en/results/jeep/wrangler/34192

    Besides: https://www.motortrend.com/news/are-...-test-results/, https://www.caranddriver.com/news/a3...rangler-video/,

Yeah, 'cause that's what you want in a vehicle...

Jeeez, what a PITA to change the battery! Although they did put charging points in the engine bay, but still...

Nobody will survive a 100km/h head on. NCAP is only rated at half that. Don't YOU be dense and make safety claims without evidence from a reputable safety tester.

It's called inductive reasoning Jelo, and we are talking about probabilities here.

I think I am somewhat qualified to post my unqualified opinion

I am in the exact situation a new Defender owner will no doubt be in.

The Treg is an awesome all rounder. I have posted about it many times. It can (and has) do everything I want from it.

    But

It does get damages on extreme 4x4 trails. I have the receipts to prove it. And therein lies the rub.

Yes, the new Defender will be able to do what the old one did and in more comfort. But at a cost. If you are willing to foot the bills then it will be awesome

Me, I am starting to feel too sorry for the Treg. So getting a true (did I just say that) 4x4 built for extreme conditions

Yes, that's due to pedestrian safety regulations.

240 but Id like the 400. Much like the D4 power rating.

It will, it will just take some time for a complete replacement.

I have seen on Lucky8's instagram that they took off the whole front bumper, so they're probably working on it already.

The R&D will be expensive though, and it might not pass safety regulations.

The new Defender will look nice with this OEM bullbar
I had one on my D3 , swopped it for an ARB, only afterwards realised, that you cant remove headlights as easily and the grill as with the OEM bullbar, and I wonder if the Defender designers had the same clever idea on the quick removal of the grill to clean out the radiator from grass seeds and debris as in D3/4
What I likesd about this bar, it was strong as well, bolted onto the chassis and not so over whelming as the others
