I'm sure I mentioned it before, that I could replace both my Puma and RRS with the new Defender - best of both worlds, so to speak.

However, we have decided to leave ZA, so will be selling both vehicles in the near future, and no point in buying the new Def just for a few months.

We also cannot have one on that side, doesn't make sense when living in a big city, so looking at an EV - most likely Peugeot e208 or Kia eSoul.

    I will miss off-roading though...

In case anyone was wondering if it was going to fit in their garage.... (Explorer pack, 19 inch wheels, P400)

Looks like I'm 3cm short for it to fit.

Should take delivery of it by tomorrow and drive it for a little bit.

True. But those fidgety accessories look like afterthoughts. I also think back tyre sans cover looks better.

If in the US, definitely you want the F150 Raptor (or the Tesla Cybertruck ). For those occasions when you just wanna.

thanks, e-Niro is also on the list.

No, not the US, that's just another 3rd world country in the making.

Good luck with your move and your travels!

If you are going to a big city, especially in Europe, you will see a tonne of LRs, in all shapes and sizes, so if you like the New Defender, go for it, you won't stand out.

    Things I like:
The engine sound of the P400 is really really good.
The power delivery builds with increasing urgency as the revs climb.... and its addictive as
The size of this car is massive. And it has great presence in offroad height.

Things I'm not that fond of:
    The price.
The viewing angle out of the drivers side mirror is too limited in the upwards angle.
The viewing ability out the drivers side mirror is limited by the gear carrier. (Surprised this passed certification)
I would have the liked the gearbox to kick down a bit quicker.

Overall, I think its the sharpest go anywhere tool money can buy right now. Wish I could keep it

From what I could gather a prototype coil over with adjustable suspension from a boutique off-road racing suspension company

I also had a brief test drive and was impressed. It was new LR smooth and solid over potholes and on the bends, took quite a steep hill with plenty (well enough for a 4x4 - not 2019 Disco 5 like obviously) of power and did not feel big to me (I have a GD6 Fortuner). Interesting dashboard display, options and layout. Plenty of space inside. Slight wind noise from either the roof rack or the side pods. Apparently it is around 500kg lighter than a D4?

Negative would be price; maybe complexity.

It's not ugly, it's a design cue that can be traced back to the first Defender 110 released in 1948.
Only a true Land Rover fan will understand 😋

Tong in cheek of course, that thing is so pointless and out of character with the rest of the vehicle.
