    Question Cost effective suspension options?

I am busy kitting out my 2008 4.0 V6 4x4 Fortuner for a trip to the swamps next August and I am worried about all the extra weight on the roof (rack, tent, water and petrol)
I am trying to keep as much as I can that will be interchangeable with different vehicles but I am really struggling with the suspension as I dont want to skimp on something important.

At the moment, I have a full OME upgrade quote inc installation at R20k and an airbag solution at R5k.

Not being worried about overall drive comfort (I am a young man)

1 - What do you all think about those options?
2 - Is there really a need for the full upgrade?
3 - Is there an alternative or addition to the airbags that makes sense?

    Thanks

    Bert

I did something similar a few years back on my Cruiser.

Full upgrade on the shocks and coils (went heavy duty Ironman) with bladders at the back.

In retrospect the heavy duty coils was not necessary, we loaded heavy so the bladders was used, but when just driving around or not heavy loaded overland trip, the heavy duty coils are a bit bouncy on the road.
