Default Riemvasmaak-Nothern Cape to Alexander Bay

    Dear All,
    We are
thinking of doing a trip from Pretoria to Riemvasmaak, to Alexander Bay, then down to the west coast next year April. We will be two vehicles. Pajero 3.2 LWB towing a Conqueror Companion, accompanied by a Landrover Disco 4 towing a Jurgens Explorer.
My question is - did somebody do a similar trip before, how difficult is it, will you recommend us doing it?
Your inputs will be appreciated please.
    Thanks!!

    Go and enjoy.
There are two sections with deep sand down the west coast, but with the correct tyre pressure, you should be okay...

Thanks haboob. We are really looking forward to it. It is just the Richtersveld that is our main concern with the caravans. I have never been to the Richtersveld, so i do not knowhow the caravans will handle it.

We’ve done Augrabies/Riemvasmaak/Namaqua Eco Trail Pella to Alexander Bay/Richtersveld/West Coast Park a few times. Fortuner with Jurgens Xcape.
Soft sand on Eco trail and West Coast Park can be tricky and rocks in the Richtersveld treacherous.
We take it easy and carefully and have not had any serious issues (stuck in sand a couple of times), makes the trip exciting.
We travel solo so with two vehicles you’ll be OK.
    Enjoy.

If you nervous, get some sand tracks, but two people digging makes it a lot easier.
Correct tyre pressure would also solve this problem...

In June, we went up the Namaqua coast, and camped at Koringkorrelbaai; as mentioned there are 2 soft sand patches and we did not get stuck with soft tyres.

We then went to Richtersveld; Potjiespram, Richtersberg, Tatasberg and Gannakouriep. As long as you are happy to travel slowly I am sure you will be fine. Although they warn you against using the road alongside the river between De Hoop and Richtersberg, I am not sure if it is not a better bet than the inland route. We were travelling alone.
