At this stage, manual for me thanks. Just love the simplicity of a manual box with low range. In ten years time, may be an auto.

I had a 120kw manual and then a 2014 auto and now back on a 2017 manual. The auto is very good. But i just prefer manual at this stage when the going really get tough and when u tow in really really deep hot sand. Auto with low range then i def will change.

Im waiting for that V6 manual as there is lots of feedback from vw in namibia that the manual is on its way as well as the 190kw auto

I had both the auto and manual 2l Amaroks. The only possible reason to have the Manual is only because of the low range. However the V6 pretty much overcome that shortfall.

The only time I ever needed a low on the auto has only been in reverse.

Then the permanent 4wd on the auto makes it worth it.

Auto for me, all the way.

I do very little 4x4 nowaydays. Which is why I bought a platkar.

So for me the permanent 4x4 in every day conditions is a must. I couldn't care less for low range.

On all the trails I have been withe my Amarok, I have fared better then every other d/cab, bu a country mile.

I would take a manual again. But I refuse to test drive an auto again... fear it might change my decision.

Main reason is simply when I want a gear I want it now. The auto learns you driving style and wonít change to your immediate wish in a split second like you can with the manual.

I do agree the modern autos are light years ahead of their forefathers... but it stays a computer controlled auto. No matter how good it is still not controlled by you directly.

Thatís what I enjoy about driving. Just like I miss driving 18speed fullers that you drive without clutch with the two, front and side splitters.

If the wife ever wanted an amarok I would buy her the auto and keep the manual.

A steep decent is just not the same on hdc... first low is king!!

Don't compare modern day (say 2005 onwards) auto boxes with the stuff from yore.
Most definitely. The issue I was more referring to was accelerating until the torque converter goes into lockup
Drove an 8 speed 2.0TDI Amarok today and it feels almost exactly like my 6 speed Touareg. The torque was a bit disappointing as expected though
