    Red lipped Herald I though but the head is too elongated

    According to my son it's either a Cross Marked Whip snake (Psammophis crucifer) or Olive Whip snake (Psammophis mossambicus).

    Psammophis for sure but which one that is a bit more difficult to say

    Go onto the Africansnakebite thread. There's an app you can download for free. Has some great pictures of all the snakes in South Africs.

    Not Cross Marked, kept some of those.

    That is the plain/unmarked variation of the Cross Marked Whip Snake, they lack any of the common markings, and have a uniform body colour with some orange on the lip.

    Attached is one I got in Mossel Bay back in 2014.
