I don't really know what I will replace them with, something that can handle rocks as I drive more rocky terrain than sand and I don't want it to be terrible on the highway, so i will probably go with AT's .
AT the moment the Apollo Apterra is probably at the top of my list, with the Dunlop AT3G as a possible second.
I am going to do the Namib with the AT22's in a months time and I think they are not bad in the sand.
I am very happy with the FJ, that smile it puts on your face. I described it in this video https://youtu.be/w0A1QxESMPY . It is difficult to say why, but a diesel just don't give you that same result, never mind the amount of power, it is the way it delivers that power. And on the rocks I am only now getting to know it, it is very capable, but you have to learn to know it , like any other vehicle.

Jors I have told you so.

Very few stock 4x4`s can keep up with the FJ. It is a sand monster and not to bad when it comes to crawling.
Will put big smiles on your face in the Namib.

The guys I know doing dunes with them are all on 33 x 12.5 tyres with a 2 inch lift.

With my little dune driving experiences I have yet to see a diesel that shadows a petrol engine in sand. Petrol engines from 200kw and up is the way to go. That extra 1500 to 2000rpm before you hit the limiter makes all the difference.

My gat jeuk of vir my vrou `n FJ te koop.

I finally made and attempt on F trail, unfortunately F trail remains unconquered. The FJ was getting through, but it took too much time and I had to turn around before the top.

    Part 2

The plan was initially to have the river bed as part of the trail, but it is quickly looking like he river bed will be enough of a trail in itself.

Forgot about part 4. we could not get the locker on the Ford to engage at all, so it struggled, had to deflate a lot and use lots of momentum.
