I replaced BFG's on my Pathfinder with Pirelli ART and was very happy, more than with the BFG's. But now it seems if the Pirelli All Terrain + is not locally available in the Patrol size.

245/75R16 is not available. Only 245/70R16. Not sure about other sizes

The AT+ is much more aggressive than the ATR and even the Wranglers but apparently still have good on tar performance. They have a very BF AT look about them but with a tread pattern much more suited to disperse water.

I took a drive yesterday to feel them out a bit. You can definitely feel they are not as refined as the ATRís and there is more noise from about 110 km/h. Iím sure the dividends will be paid when venturing off the beaten track.

They look fantastic! Where the ATRís really had a much more HT look. The bakkie now just looks more purposeful.

    Time will tell I guess!
At low speeds I find the Pirelli AT+ MUCH quiter than my old tyres, but as you said, when the speed gets to 110-130 they do get quite noisy, but not anymore than my old tyres at least

Went to Hennops yesterday to mess around a bit, and these tyres worked really well there compared to my old tyres, very good grip everywhere and no damage to the tread or sidewalls that I can see, so far so good.....

Are they 2 or 3 ply sidewalls?

The plies donít really matter. Itís the construction of the tyre that is important.

On every tyre is a load/speed index and according to Pirelliís website there is a 115T and a 121S (265/70R17) on the new ATR+. This means the former is not an LT but the latter is. The 115T means it can only handle 1215kg load and is designed for 190km/h. The 121S is 1450kg and 180km/h.

The BFG KO2 is a 120/117S which means it is designed to handle 1400kg load and 180km/h.

I wonder if the Pirelli LT tyre (121S) will
    Be available in SA?

My experience is not good with the pirellis 265/65 17ís. Lost 2 with sidewall cuts already and the 2 that did last only gave me about 25k kmís. That said we live on a farm and do lots of gravel roads.

Back to general grabbers AT which gave me almost 50k kmís in exactly the same driving conditions.

I really hope they bring the LT spec tyre in. I have the older Scorpion in LT spec, hadn't missed a beat yet. 84k km. Think I should get another 30k off the tyre still.

Does anyone know if ATR+ 265/70/17 come in white lettering?

My 265/70/18 did. Surely will be the same for 17 inch? Phone TWT - they will know for sure.

So far 10 000 km on ATR + Pirelli's and going great. Hoping for 100 000 km. Wet road behaviour most impressive. Did some horrible dirt roads over Dec and not a mark on them. Age old problem though of small stones getting stuck in thread. Once a week screwdriver and walk around.

    Mooi bly.

Thanks for reply Jaconell. Did call them and no white lettering for 17's, only 18's and up (strange). Decide to get them anyway 265/70/17 for the Ranger. Replacing stocker Conti AT's.

What's the going price for 265/70/17? Are they LT spec tyres?

Default New Pirelli Scorpion All Terrain plus

    15 000km
    Running at 2.4bar
    50% gravel roads at 80-120km/h
Lots of driving in thorny areas, citrus orchards with plenty of branches and nasty
    Touareg 2.5 with air suspension
6 punctures of mostly screws and other man made reasons, not thorns or stones

Generally quiet, a few emergency stops on tar and gravel, very happy (and safe)

This was a random piece of old steel spike. Gave a slow puncture...
TPMS saved these tyres 4 times over.
( warned of low-ish tyres before sidewall damage etc)
I mean, who checks all four tyres with a gauge every time we start the car? And who can Ďseeí one tyre at 2.2 vs the rest at 2.5?

Just not sure if these marks are a worry?

So I have done about 18500km on these tires now, wear rate seems to be good, grip on and off road, dry or wet, I have been very happy them, now comes the but.

In the last 3000kms, they have become really noisy, so much so that when my dad came in the car recently he thought something was wrong with the car, I did a 5 wheel rotation at 10000km and will do so again at 20000km, hopefully that will help.

Done 30 000 km on them by the time I sold my TB. As good as anything I have ever had. Judging by the wear at 30 000 km they were undoubtedly heading past 100 000 km. Solid value-for-money.

I have short listed Scorpion AT Plus and Wrangler Adventures for my Hilux DC. 265/65R/17.
Concerning the Perellis: Any comments on road noise and side wall strength? There are so many conflicting comments above.
To me these are the important issues.

I could not pick-up any road noise that is not in line with an AT tyre. They were quiet. But my wife claims I have impaired hearing...some more opinions?
