    Default Advice on seats

    Hi Everyone.

I'm looking to get some tips or advice on the interior of a series 2 109" SW.

I recently bought a 1959 Series 2 Land Rover 109" SW but unfortunately the vehicle doesn't have the original seating in the front anymore. Instead some installed some Toyota Seats and a homemade cubby box.

I'm trying to get the series back to as original as possible and would like to know what seat/s you guys think I should install?

At the moment I've got a bench seat for a Series Land Rover lying in my garage but as I started browsing the internet I can't get any images of series land rovers with bench seats in front, I have no idea why because I know I've seen it before and my dad owned a series 3 with a bench in the front.

What (in your opinion) is better to fit in the front? the single bench seat or the 3 separate little seats?
I quite like the idea of having the bench in the front but think it might cause a hassle when trying to access the seat box compartments.

I look forward to hearing what you think.

    Difficult question.

Having owned One Tens and a Series 2, I'd say individual seats are better.

And the Series 2 shouldn't have had seat box storage.

    Hi Jelo.

Thanks for the info, I never knew that series 2 models didn't have seatbox storage. This one has an extra fuel tank under the drivers seat and a storage box under the passenger seat and it all looks quite original.

Do you have any idea where I can find the 3 separate seats in the Cape town area?

I have no idea. Maybe ask Gary Frank on this forum.

Seatbox storage was usually an aftermarket fitment, and plenty of aftermarket shops sold the storage conversion kit.

If you have a storage box, then individual seats would be best. Defender seats are made for the storage access, with a removable base.

If you cover a set in vinyl, they should look the part.

Try Pon Steyn in Somerset West. Lots of Series part or chat to Gary Frank as Jelo mentioned
Some car, some bike and two legs

My 1961 S2 has seatbox storage under the middle seat, as well as passenger seat, although PO installed another tank there.

    Definitely doesn't look aftermarket?

Came with the 3 separate seats.

    Hi Jan.

I would never have guessed that the storage was installed afterwards on mine either, looks the part with nice hinges and original latch.
I'm glad it was done properly though. I've seen some bad aftermarket job on series land rovers before!

My pickup had nothing but it had a bench seat. The middle box was a factory optional extra.

Maybe a factory option. The middle seat box is quite shallow (for obvious reasons..) Also mine's a SWB, so not sure if that has anything to do with it being there.
