Default Pajero 3.5 V6 (Gen 2.5) EGR Block Off?

I have been reading loads on this topic ... some say it's fine ... others say don't do it ...

Has anybody on the forum done this to the 3.5 v6 petrol engine? what has been the result so far?

My EGR pipe is leaking and the sound is annoying me - but Mitsubishi wants over R2000 for a new pipe!!!

As far as I know petrol cars are more finicky to EGR removal than diesels.
There was some talk of blocking it causing detonation issues. I'm not sure if this is the result of the car thinking it is getting EGR when it is not.
So maybe that depends on how you stop it.
What does this pipe look like? Can it be welded?

Blocked mine off on the 3.5 GDi after that operation. No difference in performance, nothing funny, only the peace of mind that this filth won't happen again.

I made a little plate with blocked the flow just before the intake manifold.

Best is to block it where the EGR pipe attaches to the exhaust and on the intake manifold (seeing that your pipe is not usable anymore), but the exhaust side could be a bit difficult to reach.
