Yes, and now we have to make a plan to get our pension fund before they do. In what will we invest...what will be safe so they can't nationallize it as well. A new word for stealing without being taken to court....Nationallize........

Any person having slightest understanding of engineering knows that design errors are done. In the past parts were ordered on escalation clause to be ready a bit before they were needed. Design errors were picked up latest so that the third unit did get a fix before erection.

A lot of items were scrapped and reordered. Today there are items in storage that were manufactured nearly 10 years back. Eskom has paid for them and they are simply rusting - maybe never to be used. Eskom paid storage costs to companies.

Today in the State Capture Inquiry the witness was person who used to source coal for Eskom. Coal is the biggest expense in their books. He gave very interesting info. Not well known. Eskom used to have coal coming from cost plus mines, which are behind the fence from the power station. Cost of that coal is around one third of road transport coal. Add to that 6 to 12 people killed every year by these coal trucks plus destruction of the roads. Up to 40% of the coal demand is now that is not coming from cost plus mines. There is one BIG reason for electricity price increases.

There are some reasons why these cost plus mines are not used. Witness gave one reason. Eskom is responsible for investments in these mines and they did not do this. Witness said that money was spent on new works. I add to that list BEE and money pocketed from the contracts including transport.

Most unions will support this, to prevent job losses. and to get there hands on this money.

Remember there is no "tomorrow" with the anc and eff supporters.

Say cheers to this money? it's as good as gone. Same thing happened in zim, just in a different way.

I like the way they use the word "borrow".
Should read borrowing with no chance of repaying.
