Lightbulb LC 100 Dual battery (from standard OME dual starter batteries)

(Posted elsewhere on the forum but probably better suited here under Toyota)

    Hi everyone,

I am trying to figure out if I can convert my dual batteries in the engine bay that come standard to one starter and one Deep cycle for fridge etc.
    Has anyone done this?

If it is possible, I assume it is as easy as putting a solenoid/ Ctec type system between the two and changing one battery out - as long as the main systems are all connected to one battery that is?

I have a 2002 Land Cruiser 100 Series VX - comes with dual battery in engine bay - and I don't want to keep a 3rd deep cycle battery box in the back to save space.

    Cheers

    Is that a 24V starter in the 2002 100VX?

    Hi Kobus,

I am not sure at all, where do I check? I recently purchased the vehicle.

Short answer - no, don't do it. Rather put another battery in the back.

I don't know if there is an easy way apart from reading the values of the plate on the starter.

There will also be a switch-over relay on the passenger side.

The 100VX 4.2TD 1HDFTE does in fact have a 24V starter. Thats why the 2 batteries should preferably be identical.
It should not be a problem to power a 12V socket off the passenger side batt.
