Hi and good day. Quite correct when the fan controller packs up you have to replace the whole fan, controller and shroud.
It is actually a Volvo product and is used in some of their models. And they are ZAR16k.

However the good news is that we can source the fan controllers individually at a fraction of the price. I am away for 10 days so give Ian a buzz 0n 011 7810020 and he will gladly sort you out.
Hi, sorry for the hijacking. I might be in need of one of those units. Went 4x4ing and got mud in everywhere. Took it to the car wash and the bright spark washing the engine pulled the plug out for that fan unit. After that, fan does not switch off. I leave it overnight, as soon as I plug it in the fan starts.

I actually went out and bought an OBD2 reader and thought maybe its an error code I can clear. No luck. The scan showed no faults. Not sure what to make of this as I thought because that unit is broken, surely the scan should have showed me an error?

Still new to this unit as I only bough it today, maybe I'm doing something wrong?

Anyway, really hope you would be able to sort me out, its quit ### opening your newly polished Landrover's bonnet at clear water mall to switch your fan on. Egg on face.

You can buy a new fan from LR Direct (UK), original LR part (R9338.98 incl VAT) or alternative (R3874.62 incl VAT).

I have bought from them before (aircon motor), and delivery was in a few days via DHL.

Just happened on my wife's FL2, local indy (east rand) quoted R7000 for the coolant control module (ex. labour). Seems steep. Going to open it up (if possible) this evening and see what happened to it, likely that it burnt out - there goes the holiday money :P

Did a quick debug and the caps are both shot as well as one of the transistors from what I can tell. Unfortunately, It would be difficult to repair without destroying the circuit board to get the components.

It blows my mind that a mass produced simple h-bridge, a small ic, with rudimentary firmware a first year could have written and some passives can cost that much, was excepting to find some gold in there. Even the aluminum heat sink casting is poorly done.

It's just crazy how the manufacturers milk us like this for such a small little part...

Thanks again, will let you know, got a quote from British 4x4 for R4k (new) which is still expensive but a lot less.

For interest sake two Indies wanted to charge us 2 hours labour, it's a 5 min job! Overlandworx was the only workshop who would do it without an additional labour cost.
