My Garmin 3597lm also need a new battery. Only place I could find that ship to South Africa is bestbattery.biz in the UK. I ordered one. Hope I get it!

The guy at Trappers said Garmin does not change batteries. They will offer a replacement unit which you must pay for.

Probably wont buy Garmin again. Does Tomtom replace batteries? Anybody know?

Unless you don't use Tracks4Africa, that will not be an option.

Try S&P Power Systems. My old 7series battery died, was told no battery available. Opened it and found it had cellphone type battery. S&P replaced it.

Why would you want to replace the battery?

Mine died years ago and I don't miss it as the GPS is only used in the car and is powered by the USB cord.

I don't use it for hikes etc.

Same here, still have an old Nuvi 215W - gets powered from the cig lighter socket and only used when driving so no problem with a dead battery.

I have a Nuvi 67 and if I run it unconnected, hand-held, it peters out in about 15sec ... battery dead.
I see messages above say no problem as just run it via cig-lighter socket, computer or 12v battery ...
    but
now that I have a Oct 2019 version of T4A I cant load it into memory of the GPS...
(I suspect because of poor battery condition ... even if wired to computer or external battery)

Is there a need/benefit to doing this
(or should it just run off inserted SD card , so accessing recent data set ?)

Is it better to copy into base camp and transfer across ?

    or what etc ...

Any other set up advice for setup of T4A in a Nuvi 67 or similar ?

and any useful freeware maps I should try and load ?
