Default Route Isoka / Kampumbu / Lundazi "sable transport road"

Hello, we will drive this route in Mai. We travel by a Landcruiser bushcamper. Does someone have any informations about this route? Roadconditions and so on. Does someone have also informations about the "Meteor camp" round about 180 behind Isoka? Are there Campground in Isoka or near by Isoka? The reason why we need informations about this road is that we will drive from North Sambia to oure next destionation south luangwa. Thanks everyone for help. Joachim

I havenít driven that road, but I would give a word of warning in that May might be a little early due to the rains. There is also a description of part of that route in the Zambia Bradt guide.

This report from Carol28 contains a small part of the road you are asking about.

I also haven't driven that route, but I agree it may be impassable in sections in May: the Bradt guide (by Chris McIntyre, the best guide book on Zambia) says that both roads to Lundazi from the Luangwa Valley are impassable in the rainy season, and May is the tail end of the rains. I couldn't find any reference to accommodation in Isoka, but most Zambian towns have some kind of basic hotel and it is usually possible to camp in the grounds if you don't want a room.
