    Default I like the looks of this

    A JMC Carrying or something. It says on the side 2.8 diesel and it has leaf springs in the front with solid axle. 2WD unfortunately, would be cool if it was 4WD..Reenen, Reenen kom in

    Thinking about it a bit, I now know where the interest comes from.

    My dad at one stage was looking at a new to the country Kia 4x4 ( 1990 I think?) and we had one for a day to test. It was a shocking drive, the gear lever wobbled at idle and gear selection I battled with. 100km /h was a challenge so he scrapped the idea. I did think it looked great though.

    Die eerste gedagte wat by my opkom, is parte!!!

    Nice to look at, but nicer to walk away from

    My broer is 'n meccie met sy eie werkswinkel, en spesialiseer in trokke. Hele paar jaar gelede kom daar 'n ou aan met amper 'n soortgelyke El-Cheapo-Chinaman trokkie. Enjin kapoet.
    Hy begin eers by sy enjinherbouers om prys te kry vir herbou van enjin: No can do meneer, daar is nie parte vir daai enjin beskikbaar nie, en die wat ons dalk kan kry, sal van Unobtanium af bestel moet word, met 'n longwait...

    Lang storie kort, daai trokkie het 6 maande daar gestaan voordat die eienaar hom maar kom haal het en as scrap laat verkoop het. Die res van die trokkie het OK gelyk, maar ratkas en diff het ook al simptome van 'gebruik voor datum' begin toon. Geen, maar geen parte was plaaslik beskikbaar nie, en niks maar niks van enige plaaslik beskikbare enjins/ratkaste/diffs kon jy daar maak werk nie.

    En my broer is nie een wat sommer opgee op soiets nie. Wat hy nie kan regmaak nie, is nie die moeite werd om reg te maak nie.

    So: Kortweg: Buyer BEWARE. If it sounds too good a deal to be true, it probably is.

    Wat sal ek doen? Wegstap en eerder na 'n Isuzu, Nissan, Toyota, Hyundai of Kia van dieselfde klas kyk.

    Ek het self so trokkie, JMC Carrying SWB 1.6Ton.Het die Isuzu KB 280 DT motor in.JMC word blykbaar besit deur Isuzu.Werk lekker hard en het nog geen probleme met hom gehad nie.
