Have you checked the setting of the lights? Maybe not the bulb, but lights just set too high.

Thanks ,the SJ is lifted which doesn't help and I have set them as low as possible . They are so bright even the cats eyes on the road shine in the day.

Just normal Osram Nightbreakers? But even those might be too bright in your situation. Are the brights and normal dipped mains one single bulb?

The standard lenses are designed for tungsten and not HID and will blind oncoming traffic.
Osram Nightbreaker + should make a significant difference.
I have fitted them to my 2002 Hilux and they make a huge difference.
BTW have you checked the voltage on the old globe terminals.

I bought new lenses at Midas same as Golf 1 clear lenses and agree they are not designed for HID kits but wow did they work well . Originally I bought a light bar but never fitted it as the HID`s were more than enough. I think these globes are the original ones and probably 10 years old but I will put in a set of Osram night breakers and report back .

Pity you didn't replace with LED rather than a HID as they have a "frame" that allows one to shape the light. You would have to experiment as some reflectors at the bottom through light up while the top reflectors throw it forward. On my driver's side light, I placed a cap on the top and bottom - see the first pic. On the co-pilots side, I just needed one on the bottom. You might need a cap on the end, but I didn't find this necessary. The second pic shows the excess corrugated roofing that I used for the caps. Yeah - I like DIY.

I had the same issue with globes for my SJ, I managed to get the following, it's a H4-P45T 60/55w.

I put this HID in my bike awhile back. Note that it has a (dark) shield along the bottom that holds the cap in front. I cut the nearly half round shield to just keep the part that was blocking the glare.
