    Default Sabie

Decided on short notice to go and camp at Merry Pebbles. Last time I travelled to that part of the world some sections of the road after Lydenburg was less than ideal. How are the roads looking like to Sabie? Will be taking the X-Trail and a Venter Trailer.

Also how are the shops in Sabie? Do I need to buy everything at home and take with or are there decent dopshops\butcheries in town?

I was in Sabie last November. The road was good. Shops not so good due to no power. We stayed at Sabie river camp

If you at travelling on the Dullstroom/Lydenburg road, it is not in good condition with serious potholes (Belfast to Dullies is not too bad). We traveled home two weekends ago and were glad to get to Dullies as the sunset!

Surface of the Long Tom Pass is in good condition; I was just stuck behind countless mining trucks on it three weeks ago and it was a major pain in the poephol. As mentioned, Dullstroom to Lydenburg is badly potholed.

Make sure to take enough blankets or duvets. We have some cold weather now. We went camping there some time ago. Needless to say, we booked 3 nights and after the first night, on that first morning there, my wife gave me two choices.... book a cabin or go home. All the cabins were booked, so we packed and went home. The next morning we left for the kruger for 2 nights.

    Enjoy the trip
