Default Grand Vitara 245/70R16 Vs 235/70R16

I know a few here have had either sizes of tyre so what are your thoughts..? Currently I have 235/70R16 fitted and they behave relatively well. How much of a power loss can one expect with the bigger tyres....? (on a 2.4 manuel). I am looking at the Goodyear Wrangler AT Adventure tyres and pricing is pretty similar with the smaller tyres being slightly more expensive.

Zenbaas, I'm a GV owner but haven't changed tyre size so am not 100% qualified to answer your question. However, prior to my GV which I've only had for about 3 months I owned an Xtrail 4x4 for 12 years. As the Xtrail did not have low range, I decided to go one size over on tyres to try and give me better ability in sand. Yes, they did help a bit in thick sand but at a cost - I lost about 5-10% of my power and fuel consumption went up by about the same percentage. The Xtrail delivered a lot more torque than my 2.4 GV so I think the reduction in power would be significant if you went to 245.

Thanks. Yes the guys who have fitted 245's have the 3.2l engines as well. Having thought about it I think I'll stick with the 235's.

Do not be concerned. 3.5% won’t be noticeable on a 122kW motor. Go for it if it fits (in terms of the width)
