Default Joburg back home to Cape Town 5-7 nights

Okay, so we have anywhere between 5-7 nights to get back from Joburg (dropping people off at the airport) and getting back home to Cape Town. Planning for Oct/November.
We have traveled the coastline extensively, so would be looking for alternative routes/places of interest/stop overs/accommodation detours etc to make it a proper trip/holiday rather than a drive home.
We will be fully self sufficient if need be, 2 adults and 3 minions towing everything we need to survive
    Thanks

Go through Harrismith, stay at the Golden Gate National Park for a night, go vulture spotting and watch the sunrise from the mountains.
Then into Clarens, take a short left to the Katse dam (Lesotho) or alternatively spend a night at the Gariep dam.
Wander down to the valley of desolation at Cambedoo, drift over to the Tankwa National Park, and from there it is a short hop to Cape Town.
