Do what KobusDJ says, if you want to use the Android GPSr. For me it's only there for extra information (apart from being a toy). I have 2 Garmins on the dash for my primary navigation.

The difference is that Maps.Me has every track in even the wildest places known; Iíve used same free in Amboseli, Maasai Mara, South Luangwa Nat Park, Zambia; every known place in Botswana from Mabuasehube, CKNP, Khwai River conservancies, Moremi, Savuti, Chobe and all of Caprivi. Iíve also used Maps.Me all over America, Canada, Europe, Seychelles, Mauritius, Kenya, Tanzania, Malawi etc. whatís also very superior is that you can see where you are relative to major landmarks whereas with Tom Tom or Garmin youíre pretty much restrictive to seeing a tiny piece of road. Incidentally, Iíve just done a wildlife trip to Magotho and Mbudi areas in Khwai River area and Maps.Me had every track there. Just brilliant and free

Thanks for your experience - can you please give me the exact link for me to download the "Me software" on my iPad

There are literally DOZENS of people that regularly upload track logs to T4A on a weekly basis.

If they haven't kept up, then you need to define what tracks you are driving: private roads and roads closed to the public are NOT published. And neither should they be.

Maybe you should ask Johann or Lizette at T4A what their issues are with the maps?

Try harder. I used Maps.Me extensively at Mabuasehube a couple of months ago. It shows every track and campsite there

So does T4A on a Garmin and you don't even have to try hard.

But yes, as Jelo remarked, would be real interesting which tracks you could not find on T4A and if you notified them of these missing tracks.

I have not used Maps ME in the bush - but I was a bit disappointed in what I saw from home PC ie Botswana. Admittedly I probably did not try hard enough!

It would be good to see someone who knows the software well posting screen shots.

Main reason a GPS is made to sit in your windscreen and has a operating temperature limit of 60c
Your far more expensive cellphone has a operating temperature of only 40c
So nice warm summer day in some of our areas in the country will already exceed your cell's operating temp shortening the life of the nice and "cheap" cell phone

So not good idea to mount in your windscreen

The new GPS units also have the functionality to monitor traffic and they can save far higher amount of data than the 10 year old devices (or ones that was technically only released just over 6 years ago)
    So same functionality as cell

So yes give me a good Garmin for GPS in my car
It saves me from abusing my far more expensive cellphone
Just buy a Cat S60 then you sorted, even if in a Landy and it gets wet.
