Default 230 Korando - Is it worth it?

I saw an add for a 1999 2.3 Korando for R35k. The add says it has 155 000km. As always the photo looks like it is a brand new one.

If I get something like this, it will not be my primary ride. Over time I would like to build it up for trails. Lockers, lift, bigger wheels etc.

As my title says, is it worth it? Firstly for the car and secondly at that price.

Is that one of the models with Mercedes engines?

How easy is it to get spares for these vehicles seeing Ssangyong is long gone in Sa?

IIRC it is Merc engine. However, I read in another thread that Merc might not have the exact same spares. I think items other than the engine might be bigger challenge.

That is a lot of car for very little money. The engine is bullet proof and they are surprisingly able off-road. Go and drive it, you will be pleasantly surprised. I loved my 230 Musso.

..........and from what I recall, the Musso didn't have the build quality of the Korando? I looked at several Mussos at one stage, and they were a little plasticky and tinny compared to the Korando.

Yip, and they have little niggles. But they are tough vehicles and that 2.3 motor is a gem.

As mens bv n cylinder head soek, is dit maklik beskikbaar?

Parte is n issue.

Nie seker oor 2.9 nie (Ace sal meer weet) maar sover ek weet is dit dieselfde motor as die Sprinters, Jeeps en ML's...so behoort maklik te kry...

@Ace.
