    Default Winch power cables

So my winch all fitted and working beautifully, I am however not happy with a thick positive cable running through to the bumper, I did the installation myself and have used scrunchy plastic cable protection and taped it all up making sure cable is well attatched and shouldn't rub anywhere.
I somehow feel I should perhaps have some sort of fuse or even a battery cutoff switch?
What do do most guys do? Am I overly worried?

For now it's not connected to positive terminal.
