    Default Ellies 12v 600w Invertor / UPS

I have the Ellies 12v 600w Invertor system which I use for the lounge which consumes 260w. I have connected 2 x 12v 105a/h new Probe High cycle batteries in parallel giving me 210a/h. Fully charged via the Ellies built in charger, I get 3hrs of backup time. I then decided to charge these batteries with an intelligent charger seperately, and then connecting back onto the inverter and testing. I got an amazing 7hrs 25min. This proves that these lower cost inverters do not charge the batteries efficiently. Not sure if anyone else has experienced this. I am going to try it now on the Ellies 24v 1200w inverter using those same batteries to compare the backup times.

An untechnical question, what were the voltages showing on the batteries after each charge?

In both cases around 13.6v. What is important is the amps in the battery or sometimes referred to as cca of a battery.

You have to be reasonable here.

A battery charger designed to keep 1x or 2x 7Ah batteries happy, cannot be expected to charge 2 x 102Ah batteries correctly.

If you purchase this inverter as a complete unit i.e. it comes with 1 x 105a/h battery inside a black box as a kit. You will see them at Builders. The 1200w unit comes with 2 x 105a/h batteries as it works on 24v. If you call Ellies, they will tell you to add more batteries if you require more time! So i'm not sure what that charger is "designed" for.

Pedro1, not the typical inverter I was thinking of - just ignore what I had said, it does not apply to your unit.
Agree with your project. It should have been able to handle the 2 batteries you coupled to it.

Correct Eggie. Not sure about that 2 stage intelligent charger they claim

I had the same experience with 2x105Ah on an Ellies 24v 1200w UPS. Charged with a CTek, lasted much longer.

Going on a solar/inverter course on Monday at Ellies so I will see what they have to say.

Did the same test using the same 2 x 105a/h bartteries but used the Ellies 1200w inverter which works on 24v(batteries in series) and only got 6hrs30min opposed to 7hrs25min that I got out of the 600w 12v unit.
