Default Very short Kgalagadi trip report and some photo's

The game viewing . . . Not as many animals as in some other parks, but we reckon that the quality of the viewing is better. The mixture of thorn trees, grassland and the dunes make it more open and easier to see the animals. There were also way fewer cars than in most other parks. We were often at a excellent sighting all on our own. e.g. cheetah, honey badger, lion, etc. Alas, the leopard remains elusive for us.

The bird life . . . If you are a birder, you will be more than happy in the Kgalagadi. Good variety and great sightings. Over 80 birds on our bird list, including many owls, even during the day. Don't be fooled by the distribution maps in most bird books and use the Kgalagadi bird list.

    The flowers . . .
There was rain in April, so the grasses and flowers were spectacular in May!

We would love to go again . . . . tomorrow!

Thanks Paul. Well the truth is that you take what bookings you can get. We stayed at the 3 main camps, Twee Rivieren, Nossob and Mata Mata and had plentiful game viewings near each one, although each quite different. We loved the camping at Nossob, but probably saw the most game near Mata Mata. Then we also had one night at Bitterpan where we saw 3 lion, but it is definitely worth going to Bitterpan even just for the drive in and out across the dunes.

What did you see at Nossob?
Very good game sightings on your trip - Cheetah family shot is great!

I'm pretty sure 9 is also a black backed jackal. They are known for catching birds from the air especially around Qubitje Quap waterhole.

Too big for an AWC? The striped legs show cat family so doubt if it is jackal.
Also going for caracal or serval.

    The tail length eliminates Serval!
