    Default Power steer whine

What causes power steer whining? My BIL GC has developed a whine. Is this normal wear and how does one fix it?

Replace all PS fluid with manufacturer's spec and bleed properly ensuring no air is present.

Thanks, that rings a bell. The mechanic has advised that the pump might to be reconditioned or replaced. Any merit in that?

Would that be the sound of hydraulic fluid being dumped through a pressure relief valve?

I had a power steering pump whining on my subaru. Agents and others wanted to replace of fix the pump. After googling a bit I found the problem hard o-ring on fluid inlet to pump sucking air in R5 job and 4 years later still no whining
