Can only relate my experience with Engel vs Dometic.

Both are great fridges, the Engel is 5 years older than the Dometic (CF 50 bought it at the beginning of the year) but the Engel uses about 33% less power - tested it this weekend.

As for the Engel's "noise", you get use to it fairly quickly - we sleep in a tent and it is only about 4m from our heads. However, the great thing about the Dometic is the battery cut-out which can be set to 3 levels of protection.

So from my point of view, I would have preferred another Engel, however for the price the CF50 was a steal (under R5k from TakeaLot)

Good luck with this quest, cold beers and happy SWAMBO rules

In the intro they mention power analyzers were used on each fridge, but they do not provide this info in the video.
Pity - that would have been interesting information.

I just wasted 10 minutes looking at handles and hinges and lids.

I was waiting for total energy consumption over time and speed from ambient to some cold setting with a load.

Horses for courses, lots of similar discussions on the forum.

AFAIK Snomaster uses their own compressors.
    Engel uses their own compressors.
    NL uses Danfoss.

Snomaster's early models (as well as others from Campmaster and other badge-engineered models) had corrosion issues that could not be repaired. I believe Snomaster has however improved tremendously since, as has their local backup service. I have one of their 220V ice machines and it outperforms most others. I have a NL weekender that I am quite happy with and a small basic Waeco that works great too. Dometic owns the Waeco brand as has since started branding all their Waeco products as Dometic. They have been in the refrigeration game for yonks.
